Dr. Gingerich is an Oak Ridge Institute for Science Education Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with the National Energy Technology Laboratory and a Visiting Post-Doctoral Researcher at Stanford University in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. His research integrates large-scale public data sets with models of engineering performance, environmental impact, or cost to develop policies for the energy and water sectors. His current projects involve building models of trace element behavior at coal-fired power plants to reduce the environmental impact of power generation and life-cycle models of water and wastewater treatment to guide electrification of the water sector. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University and holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in Civil Engineering and a B.A. degree in Political Science.
