Marta Zaniolo

Marta Zaniolo received her PhD in Information Technology in the Environmental Intelligence Lab of Politecnico di Milano and is now a postdoc researcher in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University.

In her research she fuses environmental, climate, and hydrologic disciplines, with machine learning, multi-objective optimal control, and evolutionary computation. Her current research interests include addressing the challenges of providing sustainable and reliable water to drought-prone cities in California by focusing on innovative drought-resilient solutions such as water recycling, conservation, and desalination.

She has experience in integrated water resources management in complex systems involving multiple actors and a changing climate and society, drought management and prediction, information theory for drought index design, and climate teleconnection analysis.
